She advised teachers to take the time leading up the commencement of the new school year to attend developmental and professional workshops, and get lesson plans and learning resources ready.“This is a requirement and not an option. All teachers must use this time to be fully prepared for school, such as having their lesson plans and other teaching and learning resources ready for all subject areas,” she emphasized.Mrs. Henry Wilson also reminded that the required evaluation and appraisal programme for teachers will continue, pointing out that this is not a mechanism for dismissal but a requirement for the job that aims to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process. The Minister urged all stakeholders to resolve to enhance performance in the system, starting with the Grade One Inventory, whose findings she noted, need to improve to “reflect better preparedness for learning by our children”. She said that literacy at Grades Three and Four “must show a higher level of mastery,” and mooted for improvement in the national average for Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) that will show “a narrowing of the gap between those at the top and those at the bottom on the performance ladder”.“Every student who takes the GSAT examination must be performing in literacy and numeracy at a minimum at the grade level,” she posited.Mrs. Henry Wilson requested that these objectives “be cascaded down throughout the system to represent the minimal targets of each school.”“Only by planning, objective setting, provision of the requisite teaching support, teacher performance, and an environment conducive to learning will we be able to meet these objectives,” she affirmed. The Minister urged all to be motivated by the desire to bring about these targets. “We have to work together to give meaning to our commitment that every child can learn and every child must.” she asserted. The new school year begins on September 10. No one was injured in the fire, however one member of the Housing Department staff is under observation for signs of possible smoke inhalation. The fire was extinguished by the Boulder Fire Department. The fire started about 1:20 p.m. when a grounds worker turned on a small tractor in the shed at the Faculty-Staff Apartments at 19th and Athens streets. The shop was located west of 19th Street and the Boulder Creek bicycle-pedestrian path. A mechanical problem in the tractor is believed to have ignited the fire, though exactly how the fire began is not yet known, said CU Police Chief Joe Roy. The fire burned quickly because of the presence of gasoline in several hand and riding lawn mowers, Roy said. No other gasoline was stored in the shed. The extent of damage has not been determined but the building and its contents were estimated to be 75 percent destroyed. Although equipment will need to be replaced it is unlikely that the 60-year-old building will be rebuilt. Roy said the fire was not related to two small lab fires that occurred in the last two weeks.

The project is being funded by the federal (50%), state (25%) and local authorities (25%). The state is buying the right-of-way for $432m from CSX, which will continue to carry freight on the route. MotivePower is to supply seven diesel locomotives for $17·5m, and Bombardier will provide 14 push-pull BiLevel coaches for $30m. Trains will run every 2 h off-peak, and every 30 min in the peak. E-bikes are appealing to the military mainly because they are virtually silent compared to the racket of internal combustion engines. Besides that, being electric means planners do not have to sweat over the logistics of sending fuel to remote locations, especially during special operations. Also generally, motorcycles are smaller and lighter, hence the ease of transporting them. But one thing that intrigues us is if the Kalashnikov bike is as resilient and reliable as the AK-47.–Ads– Kalashnikov will also supply the bikes to law enforcement during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Militaries are getting into e-bikes because they are silent and don’t require fuel. Kalashnikov, the Russian arms manufacturer best-known for producing the AK-47 (Avtomat Kalashnikova) assault rifle has recently shown off an electric motorcycle to be produced for the Russian military and police forces, reports Popular Mechanics. Kalashnikov Group presented the bikes at the 2017 Army International Military-Technical Forum in Moscow. The e-bike is operational, evidenced by the promotional video (click here to watch), showing a rider unplugging the bike and proceeding to ride in sunglasses and a cap over rough terrain. The police version looks like a supermoto, for urban patrolling. The manufacturer also announced supplying 50 of the bikes to law enforcement for the 2018 World Cup, which will be held in major cities across Russia.Kalashnikov didn’t publish any technical data and we can’t read Russian, but a caption in the video shows 100km, most probably meaning the bike’s range. The police bike, however, is said to have a range of 150km.The news of Kalashnikov’s e-bikes comes after the American firm, Logos Technologies’ announcement that they have been awarded the DARPA contract to research and built an electric motorcycle for the American special forces. According to Logos, their SilentHawk e-bike is based on the Alta Redshift MX e-bike with a range of 170km. Russian arms maker, Kalashnikov is producing electric bikes for the military and police.
Sampai-sampai, kehadiran Shinkansen menjadi inspirasi bagi belahan dunia lain untuk menghadirkan moda yang hampir menyamai dengan konsep yang sama – sebut saja kereta cepat Perancis TGV yang lahir pada tahun 1980.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading…
McElwain, 52, went 22-16 in three seasons at Colorado State but quickly turned around a program that had struggled for most of the last decade. The Rams went 10-2 this season.Florida had zeroed in on McElwain, who won two national titles as Alabama’s offensive coordinator under Nick Saban, earlier this week with athletics director Jeremy Foley flying out to Fort Collins to hammer out the deal.Florida announced that McElwain will have a six-year contract paying $3.5 million per year.ANALYSIS: McElwain has right background, skill set for Gators job“Coach McElwain was someone we targeted from the beginning of the search,’’ Foley said. “The more we worked through the process and did our due diligence, coupled with our meeting and conversations with him and those around him, it was obvious he is the right person to lead the Florida Gator football program.”Colorado State has named offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Dave Baldwin as its interim head coach.“CSU athletics has benefited from the three-year association with Jim McElwain,” Colorado State president Tony Frank said via a release. “We wish him well, and are confident and we can recruit a coach who is committed to a sustained program of excellence at Colorado State over the long term.”John Morris, Colorado State’s interim director of athletics, said the school will begin its national search for McElwain’s replacement immediately. “The head football coach position at Colorado State is a dream job,” Morris said. “I am confident we will attract an outstanding group of candidates who want to coach under tremendous university leadership at this world-class institution.”FOOTBALL FOUR: Rating and debating college football and the PlayoffMcElwain had a $7.5 million buyout at Colorado State, a large sum that could have held up an agreement between him and Florida. Florida announced, however, that its University Athletic Association has agreed to play Colorado State $3 million over six years and will host the Rams for a game in Gainesville between 2017-20, with a $2 million payout attached. McElwain also will pay Colorado State $2 million. The Coloradoan reported earlier this week that the CSU’s president, Tony Frank, had verbally agreed to lower or eliminate the buyout if a so-called “dream job” came along.“He has a proven track record on the offensive side of the ball, has coached in the SEC, won two national championships and has had success as a head coach,’’ Foley said. “He has recruited the South and the state of Florida and has spent time coaching at the highest level in the NFL.“He has an engaging personality and is someone who can connect with a variety of audiences and he operates with a high level of integrity. I welcome him and his family to The Gator Nation and I’m looking forward to working alongside him and his staff as they build a championship program both on and off the field.”McElwain replaces Will Muschamp, who was fired after four seasons. Florida has its man — finally.Colorado State’s Jim McElwain has agreed to become Florida’s next head coach, the school announced Thursday. McElwain will be introduced at a news conference on Saturday.
